Stephen Rowland: Looking back before Moving Day

My wife Susan and I will be moving to our new home in Pulaski in about a week. It’s sort of a “dream house” for us, one of those older large homes in the historic district near the town square — what people used to call the “silk stocking” area. The home was built in the mid-1930’s like a mini fortress — large foundation stones, all brick, 3,600 square feet that sort of looms out at you at the top of the hill east of the town square. My wife decided to give it a name — “Hillcrest Gables.” The peaked roofline with white trim on a brown background reminds me of the English Tudor homes.
