Police exchange late-night gunfire with man on Phoenix street

PHOENIX – Police in Phoenix exchanged gunfire with a man late Thursday and later found him wounded at a home, where they took him into custody. The Phoenix Police Department said in a press release Friday no one else was injured in the shooting near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road, in the area of the Camelback Ranch spring training complex.

PHOENIX - An attempt to help the homeless on July 3 was cut short after police officers told organizers to leave the area. An organization called Hearts For The Homeless AZ was hosting its second annual 'Barbecue For The Homeless' near 7th Avenue and Jefferson Street, and about an hour into the event, Phoenix Police arrived, and officers told the organizations that they were trespassing, and would have to leave.

City of Phoenix adds 12 weeks of paid parental leave for employees

PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix announced on Friday it would begin providing paid parental leave to some employees starting in the fall. Eligible employees beginning Oct. 1 will have 12 weeks of paid leave for birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child during a 12-month period, according to a press release.
