Onida teeners fall to Chamberlain in season opener

The Onida Post 79 varsity teeners played in their season opener against Chamberlain on Tuesday in Onida. Chamberlain got the scoring started in the first inning off home runs by Sawyer Donovan and Cruz Soviek. Chamberlain added runs in the third and seventh inning. The Onida teeners could not scratch across a run. Chamberlain came away with a 5-0 victory.

Tigers win both divisions of Region 6A Track Meet

The Tigers brought home both team titles when they competed in the Region 6A track meet in Chamberlain on Thursday, May 20. Stanley County Dominate in Region Track and Field Meet

Stanley County came through with sixwins on Thursday in Chamberlain at the Region 6A Track and Field Meet. Evan Nordstrom and Nathan Cook each were a part of two wins separately and the two teamed up with Frederickson Andrew and Trey Frost to win the 4×200 relay. Nordstrom won both the 100 and 200 meter dash for the Buffaloes while Cook swept the throws of both shot put and discus. Frost set a new PR in the 110 meter hurdles on his way to the sixth Buffalo win. Cormac Duffy finished in second both the high jump and long jump.

Stanley County Track and Field in Chamberlain for Region Meet

For the final time before the state meet out west, the Stanley County Buffaloes will be in action for the Region 6A Meet in Chamberlain. Stanley County was supposed to be in Chamberlain early this season for the Big Dakota Conference meet but it was canceled due to the weather. The Buffs, after dealing with plenty of cancelations in the first part of the season, have been able to roll through plenty of the final meets to end the year. Evan Nordstrom and Nathan Cook had two of the best days in the last competition as each won four events for the Buffaloes.

Buffs excel at Lezlie Blasius Invitational

The Stanley County Buffaloes track and field team competed in the Lezlie Blasius Memorial on Friday in Kimball. A total of 11 teams competed in the meet. As a team, the Buffs boys placed first with a team score of 137.5. Burke came in second with a team score of 101, while Kimball/White Lake placed third with a score of 99. On the girls side, the Buffs placed seventh with a score of 40. Chamberlain took home the girls title with a score of 151, while Kimball/White Lake placed second with a score of 132.5.

Parsons, Stassen Win National Walleye Tour Event Presented by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s at Chamberlain, South Dakota

Chase Parsons, of Denmark, Wisconsin, weighed a combined total of 31.70 pounds to win the National Walleye Tour Presented by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s event at Chamberlain, South Dakota, on April 30. Parsons won a fully rigged Ranger 2080MS with a 250-horsepower Mercury outboard, $15,000 in prize money, $10,000 in Nitro Tournament Rewards and $2,327 in Anglers Advantage cash for a total of $91,922 in winnings.

Stanley County Track Travels to Kimball Friday

The Stanley County Buffaloes will be back on the track on Friday as they travel to Kimball. It’s the final meet before the Region meet next week Thursday, May 20. The Buffaloes competed in the Capitol City Qualifier on Tuesday at Hollister Field. Evan Nordstrom won two events for Stanley County as Nathan Cook won the third.

CHAMBERLAIN -- Joey Cole did not surrender a run to send Winner/Colome past Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman 10-0 in five innings Wednesday in prep baseball action. Cole went the distance, allowing two hits and four walks, while striking out eight in the win. He also had an RBI at the plate for the Royals. Zach Bohnet and Aiden Barfuss had two RBIs apiece, while Aaron Gilchrist went 2-for-3.
