Karen Louana Grimes, age 79, Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away early Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Webb City Health and Rehab. Karen was born on December 26, 1942, in Miami, Oklahoma the daughter of the late Bronson Edwards and Daisy (Bonner) Edwards. She was a 1960 Graduate of Miami High School, and then earned her associates degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. She married Charles Grimes on November 3, 1963, in Miami, Oklahoma he preceded her in death on March 28, 2022. Karen was a Special Education Teacher for the Carl Junction School District and then a Joplin Head Start teacher for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma and extremely proud of her Native American heritage. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and spending time at the Carl Junction Senior Center.

Okla. man to be sentenced in an attack that paralyzed victim

TULSA, Okla. – An Ottawa County man convicted of assaulting a classmate leaving him a paraplegic and bragging about his injuries will be sentenced on Friday. Jace Christian Williams, 23, of Miami entered the guilty plea in February in U.S. District Court to assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country.

Nowata Seeking New Baseball, Softball Coach
