NSAA Track: Hartington Cedar Catholic shines Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. – The Class C and D NSAA track meets concluded Saturday, with Hartington Cedar Catholic’s boys and girls winning events on the track. In team scores, Hartington Cedar Catholic’s girls and Crofton’s girls tied for fifth in Class C with 35 points each. The Cedar Catholic boys placed third with 44 points.

College Baseball (5/21): Wins for Iowa, Creighton, Nebraska

(KMAland) -- Iowa held off Indiana, Nebraska outscored Michigan State and Creighton came back to win in Saturday’s regional college baseball tilt. Iowa (33-17, 17-7): Iowa completed the weekend sweep of Indiana (25-30, 10-14) with a 2-1 win. Keaton Anthony homered for the Hawkeyes while Izaya Fullard had Iowa’s other two hits. Ty Langenberg accrued the win after striking out four on four hits in five innings.

New clerk hired for probation period; fireworks dependant on precipitation

OSMOND — The Osmond City Council met Monday, May 9, in the conference room. During the meeting, Mayor Dennis Kuhl informed the council the city has had one applicant for the clerk position. He said he has hired Sonja Kirchoff with a six-month probation period starting June 1. Kirchoff will start at $15 an hour as advertised in the newspaper advertisement.

Wausa’s boys golf team is headed to State

WAUSA – The Wausa varsity boys golf team is going to take a swing at a state title. The Vikings qualified for the 2022 Nebraska School Activities Association Boys Golf State Championships as a team on May 16 after finishing as the runner-up in the District D-3 Golf Tournament at their home course of Rolling Hills Country Club.
