JAMESTOWN – There are many ways to celebrate the birth of a nation, from cook-outs, to parades, to fireworks. With the fun, comes some concerns from officials in Jamestown. Head of Jamestown’s Public Safety Committee, Councilman Brent Sheldon, urges residents to be mindful of their neighbors this weekend, especially when it comes to noise.

Jamestown Man Charged with Felony Criminal Contempt in Falconer

A Jamestown man was arrested on a felony charge after Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies and Ellicott Town Police were called to the area of Main Street in Falconer for a reported argument between two people on the sidewalk on Wednesday. Police arrived on scene at about 3:15 PM and found that 25-year-old Travis Estus was allegedly in violation of an order of protection. After an investigation, deputies arrested Estus and charged him with 1st-degree criminal contempt. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he is being held on $1,000 bail.

Forestville resident arrested following Hit and Run accident

On June 30th, 2022, New York State Troopers arrested Patrick Olmstead, 25, of Forestville, for Driving While Intoxicated. The Troopers responded to a residence in Forestville for a report of a hit and run property damage accident. Investigation revealed that while driving south on Creek Road in Forestville at a high rate of speed, Olmstead exited the roadway and items flew from his truck, resulting in damage to the caller’s front yard. Olmstead continued driving and was located by Troopers shortly afterward. Olmstead was placed under arrest after failing several SFSTs, transported to SP Fredonia and processed. Olmstead was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of Hanover Court on a later date.

Fitness in the Park – Emily does a yoga demonstration

Emily demonstrates some yoga as directed by Pam Vetrano, wellness director at the Independent Health YMCA. She starts with grounding and breath and Pam walks her through it. Pam says, “Through Fitness in the Park, we have over 50 classes offered this summer at 25 different park locations moving from Jamestown to Olcott, all over Erie County and Niagara County.” All you have to do is show up. Most classes you want to bring a mat and water bottle but all you have to do is sis show up.
