Escanaba Fireworks Set Saturday Night; City Spells Out Ordinance

The City of Escanaba will have their fireworks display to celebrate the Fourth of July on Saturday, July 2nd at dusk in Ludington Park. Various food vendors will be on site. Citizens and visitors are asked to keep the fireworks ordinance in mind when visiting the park for the family events. The ordinance is as follows:

TURTLE RIDGE SHOW HIGHLIGHTS JEWELRY

Turtle Ridge Gallery will host a jewelry show July 2-3, 10 am – 5 pm, featuring the work of Arthur Ragauskas. Born in Lithuania, he has been inspired by the historical significance of jewelry craftsmanship and mythology in northern Europe to combine modern metal forms and cuts with traditional styles to create matte, brushed and hammered finishes. Ragauskas also pairs richly textured gold and silver with precious and semi-precious gemstones to fashion rings, necklaces and earrings.

KARI ANDERSON HOSTS FUNDRAISER WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS

This summer, the Kress Pavilion is offering watercolor workshops July 12 and Aug. 1 to raise funds for its fundraising group, the Friends of the Pavilion. Door County watercolorist Kari Anderson will host the sessions – limited to 15 students per workshop – during which participants will discuss color, composition and topics of their choice; watch demonstrations; engage in problem solving; and receive personal attention. Harbor battle heads to Baileys

Egg Harbor will make the return trip to Baileys Harbor Friday night to kick off another weekend of Door County Baseball action. The A's continue to look for their first win of the season after suffering another double-digit loss to Washington Island on Sunday 20-4. The Indians snapped their own losing streak last Friday night when they beat Institute 14-1. Southern Door alum Brady Tooley is back for his second season with the performing arts troupe that features dozens of other young singers and dancers from around Wisconsin. Tooley got a second crack at joining Kids from Wisconsin last year after the pandemic canceled the 2020 season. Tuesday around 1:25 p.m., Escanaba Public Safety officers received a “be on the lookout” for a vehicle involved in an accident on South 7th Street near 5th Avenue. Fyr Bal Returned With a Bang

After a two-year hiatus, the 56th annual Fyr Bal Festival was held June 18: a beautiful, sunny day to celebrate the start of summer on the shore of Eagle Harbor. The day held festivities for all ages, including the Fur Bal pet parade, which had about 30 furry participants; and – new this year – the make-your-own flower crown activity, which drew many attendees into the Ephraim Village Hall.
