UTICA, Ill. (Heart of Illinois ABC) -A man has been life-flighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, after being hit by a excavator and being knocked into a hole. A press release from the Utica Fire Protection District Fire Chief says it happened around 11:30 AM Friday morning during demolition of the Old Waltham School.

Man gets federal prison time for lying about gun purchase

PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man could have received as much as ten years in federal prison for a felony weapons charge he pleaded guilty to. Instead, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says a federal judge Thursday sentenced Dontarius Dixon, 29, to only nine months in prison on a charge of Making a False Statement During the Purchase of a Firearm.

Home cooking displaces Hennepin residents Friday

Home cooking Friday heavily damaged a Hennepin apartment complex sending one man to a hospital. Neil Buffington is the District Chief of the Granville-Hennepin Fire Protection District. His crew was dispatched to the brick complex at 518 East Market about 4:50pm. Heavy smoke and fire were found in a first-floor apartment. It took thirty minutes to extinguish the flames and heavy smoke was left throughout the structure.

(WMBD) — Friday morning Peoria Riverfront Museum staff gave the first look at their newest exhibit for the summer. “This exhibition is called ‘Creatures of Light: Nature’s Bioluminescence’ It comes to us from the American Museum of Natural History in New York and it’s a really wonderful exhibit that explores all examples of bioluminescent plants, animals, and creatures from the land, the air, and the sea, ” said Curator of Science & Planetarium Director Renae Kerrigan.
