East Randolph Man Charged in Weekend Domestic Incident

Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies arrested an East Randolph man on multiple charges stemming from a domestic incident that occurred on Saturday. Deputies report that 22-year-old Trajan Wofford was taken into custody on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, 4th-degree criminal mischief, and 2nd-degree harassment. Wofford was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail and later released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Randolph Town Court at a later date.

Police reports 6/24/21

Monday, 4:48 p.m., three injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident on West State Street near South Second Street. A vehicle operated by Heath J. Stone, 46, of Ormond Beach, Fla., reportedly struck the rear of a vehicle operated by Joseph T. Keane, 54, of Wellsboro, Pa., causing damage to both vehicles. Stone was subsequently cited for following too closely, an infraction.

Cattaraugus, Allegany counties see unemployment dip again

Area unemployment rates remained lower than the state and nation as a whole in May, the state Department of Labor reported this week. Cattaraugus County’s unemployment rate dropped almost a point — from 5.9% to 5.1% — between April and May. The rate in May 2020 was 15%, while the COVID-19-related lockdown saw rates peak at 20.3% in April 2020.

Cattaraugus County Reports One New COVID-19 Case Since Saturday

The Cattaraugus County Health Department has reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 over the past three days. The newest case, announced Saturday, is located in the southwest part of the county, and brings the county's total case number to 5,723 since the start of the pandemic. Meanwhile, the county's seven-day average infection rate is 0.3%, the number of active cases of the virus is three, and the number of hospitalizations remains unchanged at one. Along with the county's three active cases, there are 5,613 that have recovered and 107 who have died. As of Monday, there are 11 county residents in quarantine, 158,284 tests have been administered, and there have been 152,561 negative test results.
