Second Construction Phase to Begin on U.S. Highway 212 in Watertown

WATERTOWN, S.D. –The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the U.S. Highway 212 project in Watertown will soon move into phase two of construction. The prime contractor, J & J Earthworks, plans to begin work just east of 11th Street East to just east of 19th Street East by Tuesday, June 28, 2022. This section of roadway will be completed one-half at a time, starting with the south side. During this initial work, two-way traffic will be maintained on the north side of Highway 212.

State GOP Convention taking place in Watertown

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota Republicans are meeting to choose candidates for attorney general and other offices, with the impeachment conviction and removal of Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg hanging over the convention in Watertown. Former Attorney General Marty Jackley and Division of Criminal Investigation Director David Natvig both want to be considered for the role. Delegates also will choose their nominee for secretary of state and will try to forge a united platform after months of Capitol infighting. The convention began Thursday. Voting for nominees is set for Saturday.

OMAHA, N.E. ( – Watertown Post 17 would split their games at the Creighton World Series Classic in Omaha on Thursday. Watertown would fall to Dickinson in game one of the afternoon, 10-1. Braedon Zaug, Marcus Rabine, and Trevon Rawdon had Post 17’s three hits in the game. Rabine collected the lone RBI. Volga man dies in hospital after head-on crash

BROOKINGS, S.D. ( — A Volga man has died of injuries sustained in a head-on crash north of Bruce, South Dakota last week. The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department says the crash involving a pickup and a sport utility vehicle happened June 14th at the intersection of 468th Avenue and 199th Street.
