Deputies arrested two Antelope Valley men Sunday on drug charges after a routine traffic stop in Valencia. On Sunday, deputies with the Summer Crime Enforcement Team were patrolling in Valencia when they spotted a vehicle with no license plates parked in a local gas station on Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station.

Two people were arrested last Thursday in Stevenson Ranch by the Special Assignment Team in Santa Clarita for identity theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Just after midnight on Thursday, June 23, deputies with the Special Assignment Team observed a vehicle without registration tags on Weldon Canyon Road and The Old Road, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A Southern California man has died in a head-on crash that also injured a woman on Highway 101 in Mendocino County. On Monday evening, CHP say a 36-year-old Burbank man drove his Toyota Prius over the highway’s center median into oncoming traffic in the Redwood Valley area. He collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the opposite lane resulting in his death. The female driver of the Jeep suffered major injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Her passenger was uninjured. CHP are still determining what caused the crash and whether or not the Burbank man was intoxicated.

A Southern California man was killed in a crash on Highway 101 near Redwood Valley Monday, the California Highway Patrol reported. According to the CHP, a man identified only as a 36-year-old resident of Burbank, Calif., was driving a 2006 Toyota Prius northbound on Hwy. 101 around 6:30 p.m. June 27. For reasons that have not been determined, the driver of the Prius drove through the center median and into the southbound lanes of the highway south of West Road.

A 14 Freeway brush fire was quickly knocked down by firefighters Wednesday morning. Fort Tejon is a former United States Army outpost which was intermittently active from June 24, 1854 until September 11, 1864. The fort's mission was to suppress stock rustling and protect settlers from attacks by Native American tribes. It's located in the Grapevine Canyon along the interstate 5 highway, and comes just before you head over to the Tejon Outlet. On our visit, the park was nearly deserted and none of the buildings were open so we had to look through the windows. It really felt like we transported back in time to the mid 19th century. I would like to visit again in the future when the buildings are opened up to the general public.
