Springfield woman hit on I-70 W trying to retrieve item is critically injured

A Springfield woman was critically injured Thursday evening when she was struck by a car on Interstate 70 West while trying to retrieve an item that had blown out of her car. Amy Swyers was struck in the left lane at 6:15 p.m. near state Route 72/South Limestone Street. She was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and then flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.

Sleepy driver causes two crashes on 274 early Thursday morning

A sleepy driver was cited for causing a series of accidents on State Route 274 east of County Road 23 (near the Logan/Shelby county line) Thursday morning around 1:10. The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Robert Irwin, 26, of Jackson Center, was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang westbound on 274 when he fell asleep at the wheel. His car went off the left side of the road, then re-entered the road and struck an eastbound 2015 Ford Escape head-on operated by Renee Conaway, 54, of Wapakoneta.

Ohio State, Xavier to face off in Cincinnati

When he came to Ohio State, coach Chris Holtmann spoke of attempting to schedule non-conference games with power in-state programs Cincinnati, Dayton and Xavier. Now he’s had one scheduled for him. Today, the Dispatch has confirmed a report announcing that the Buckeyes will go to Xavier to face the Musketeers on November 18 in the annual Gavitt Games.
