Rice farmers in eastern Arkansas heading out to check fields Wednesday morning instead found something with a bit more bite, according to a report from KARK news. Thick smoke causes I-40 traffic slowdown, caution advised

ST. FRANCIS Co., Ark. (KAIT) – A thick plume of smoke has caused a major slowdown in traffic on I-40 between Wheatley and Goodwin. According to IDriveArkansas.com, a vehicle is burning about six miles northeast of Wheatley. The fire has caused a significant amount of smoke to blow across the interstate, slowing traffic.

Riceland Foods, 107 E. Harrison St., third-degree battery, obstructing governmental operations, fleeing. 1000 block of N. College St., first-degree terroristic threatening. 1400 block of S. Rose St., indecent exposure. Stuttgart Police responded to a report of an individual urinating in the yard of a residence. The individual said that the residence did not have running water but denied urinating in the yard. The individual was advised by police that it is illegal to urinate in public.

William A. Hickman, 75, of Stuttgart passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Bill was born on January 4, 1947, in Harrison. He was a graduate of Harrison High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University. He was a musician and owner of Arkansas School Band Service. He was a member of The Lighthouse Church and twice Past Master of Masonic Lodge Euclid Lodge #130-Stuttgart, Arkansas chapter.

Donald Charles Hillman, 75, of DeValls Bluff passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at St. Vincent’s in Little Rock. Mr. Hillman was born March 30, 1947, near Lodges Corner to Clinton Sterling Hillman and Mary Pauline Hillman who preceded him in death. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at the Arkansas Department of Corrections-Cummins Unit. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and jack of all trades who could build something out of nothing.
