Casper City Council Informally Elects New Mayor And Vice Mayor for 2022

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Tuesday November 30th the Casper City Council held their bi-monthly work session. During this session the council held their annual straw poll to un officially decide who will be Mayor and Vice Mayor for the year 2022. Only city council members are allowed to vote for the Mayor and Vice Mayor. Prior to the work session council members nominated candidates for the positions. Only members of the city council may be nominated for the positions.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Republican Party will no longer recognize U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney as a member of the GOP in its second rebuke for her criticism of former President Donald Trump. Saturday’s 31-29 vote by the state party central committee followed similar votes by GOP officials in several Wyoming counties. Cheney didn’t immediately return an email message Monday seeking comment. The Casper Star-Tribune reports the Wyoming GOP voted overwhelmingly in February to censure Cheney for voting to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Natrona County rejects ‘sixth cent’ tax in Tuesday’s special election

CASPER, Wyo — Natrona County voters have defeated a proposal to take on a “sixth cent” temporary special purpose tax during a special election Tuesday, November 2. 53.16% of the ballots cast were against the proposal and 46.84% were in favor, according to unofficial results posted on the county’s website. 7,060 ballots were cast. With almost 33,000 registered voters in the county, turnout was about 21.5%. The results are expected to be confirmed by the canvassing board on Friday.
