Cultivating A Plant-Based Lifestyle At The Santa Monica Community Gardens

Being a mom on the go means that is can be difficult to get a well-balanced meal, if I even get a chance to eat! I am also transitioning back to a vegan diet and need a little extra support from time to time. I’m grateful to the city of Santa Monica for creating a program at one of the local community gardens aptly named, Pancakes In The Park at the Ishihara Community Learning Garden. This wonderful event takes place the third Saturday of every month from 9am-11am at Ishihara Park. Bonus: if there is an item in the garden that is ripe, you will likely get sent home with some! We have picked our own tomatoes, fava beans, squash, bok choy and okra to include on our menu for the day. A few extra veggies never hurt anybody!

Pura Vita: Vegan Italiano Brunch in West Hollywood

There are so many reasons to love Pura Vita, the first 100% plant-based organic Italian restaurant and wine bar in Los Angeles. Nay, the United States! Despite living on the opposite side of town, I have made the journey for Pura Vita’s brunch menu multiple times and introduced several non-vegans to the joys of plant-based dining. We have always left with fully satisfied palates.

Zooga Yoga: Teaching Mindfulness Through Kids Yoga In Culver City

It seems like a very “LA thing” to take your kids to yoga class, but I feel like this should be more common place. Focus, confidence and mindfulness are key components to any yoga class and are invaluable tools for kids to learn from an early age. Can you imagine what the world might be like when these strong children go out and rally for local and global causes?
