Bar where deadly shooting unfolded Saturday has liquor license suspended

BATON ROUGE - A bar had its parish liquor license suspended after six people were shot following a concert at the business over the weekend. The East Baton Rouge Alcoholic Beverage Control Office confirmed Monday that it pulled license for Capital Park Bar & Grill. The department did not release further details about the decision, saying it does not comment on pending investigations.

Father of LSU pitcher Ma'Khail Hilliard dies in Tiki Tubing accident on Amite River, Sheriff says

The father of an LSU baseball pitcher died in a water accident while tubing on the Amite River over Father's Day weekend, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said Monday. Keith Hilliard, 53, whose son is senior LSU pitcher Ma'Khail Hilliard, disappeared underwater Saturday shortly after entering the Amite from Tiki Tubing’s Denham Springs drop-in location, said Sheriff Jason Ard. He had lost an item in the water and left his tube to try to retrieve it, the Sheriff said.

BRPD says driver, 76, dies in head-on collision along Plank Road near Airline Highway

Baton Rouge police say a 76-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision on Plank Road late Sunday. Officers say a northbound Volkswagen driven by Audrey Mae Johnson of Tanner Street crossed the center line and struck a southbound Toyota, then a Nissan. Johnson died at the scene and the drivers of the other vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

BATON ROUGE, La. — A man has died in an apparent tubing accident this weekend on the Amite River, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said that Keith Hilliard, 53, got off of his tube and went into the river trying to find something he dropped into the water. Deputies said Hilliard went under the water and did not resurface.
