Area 4th of July events planned
Anyone looking to take part in some July 4th activities won’t have to go too far. The Ramona Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual parade on Monday, the 4th. The parade will start at 11:00 Monday morning on Main Street in Ramona. Parade entries need to be at the school there between 9:30 and 10:30 for the line-up. After the parade, there will also be games on Main Street.

Huron 13U sweeps Brookings in twinbill
BROOKINGS - The Huron 13U Teener team traveled to Brookings and swept a pair of games Tuesday against Brookings’ Bombers Maroon team. The museum is getting a makeover!
At the Lake Preston Museum, considerable progress has been made in restoring the exterior of the building to its former beauty. 1947: Lightning strikes home, starting house on fire
Lake Preston will be hosting the 2012 Kingsbury County Cancer Walk on July 13 at the Lake Preston track. Originally the Kingsbury County cancer walks were part of the American Cancer Society, with funds going back to them. Since 2008, the money raised by the walk has been kept in the county and distributed to those diagnosed with invasive cancer.

Henrietta (Henri) Truh, the “pickle lady” of Carthage, compiled eight decades of home cooking and canning experience into a cookbook, “Tried and Truh.” Truh became responsible for many of her family’s meals when she was 11 or 12, and had a commercial kitchen built in her garage nine years ago when she was 83.
