Bicyclist dies following crash in Farmington

FARMINGTON — A man riding a bicycle died following a crash Saturday afternoon in Farmington. According to a press release from the Farmington Police Department, the Franklin County Regional Communications Center received reports of a car versus bicycle crash on Farmington Falls Road, also known as Route 2, in Farmington just after 3:45 p.m.

Maine Man Killed After Being Struck on His Bicycle Saturday

According to WABI TV 5, a Chesterville man was riding his bicycle west on the Farmington Falls Road when he was struck by a pickup truck. Reports indicate that 55-year-old Christopher Krol of Chesterville was struck just before 4PM Saturday by 50-year-old Richard Dow of Wilton. First responders transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital initially. After arriving there he was then taken to Maine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.

(WILTON, ME) Savings of as much as $0.24 per gallon on diesel were available in the Wilton area, depending on which station drivers choose, according to a recent price survey. The survey, which looked at prices across the Wilton area on Tuesday, found that Mobil at 227 Us-2 Easthad the cheapest advertised diesel, at just $3.09 per gallon. By comparison, the most expensive station in the area was CITGO at 380 Us-2 East, which listed a per-gallon price of $3.33.

Cyclist Dies After Colliding With Pickup Truck in Maine

FARMINGTON, Maine (AP) — A bicycle rider who was hit by a pickup truck in Farmington died the following day at a hospital, officials said. Both cyclist Christopher Krol, 55, of Chesterville, and the truck driver were headed west when witnesses said the cyclist cut into the truck's path Saturday afternoon, said Farmington Police Chief Kenneth Charles.
