California man had enough fentanyl ‘to kill 12 million people,’ DA says

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Officials in California arrested a man on Wednesday whom they claimed possessed enough fentanyl to kill 12 million people, authorities said. Alfonso Gomez-Santana, 60, of Fullerton, was arrested and charged with one felony count of sale or transport of a controlled substance and two felony counts of possession of sale with intent to sell, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. He faces a maximum sentence of 80 months in the Orange County Jail if convicted on all counts.

Code Orange air quality alert issued for Saturday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A Code Orange air quality alert has been issued this weekend because of unhealthy levels of pollution for sensitive groups of people.The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection declared a Code Air Quality Action Day for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, Westmoreland and Mercer counties on Saturday. "A strong area of high pressure, plenty of sunshine, and high temperatures near 90 degrees will likely contribute to 8-hour average concentrations of ozone in the Code Orange range on Saturday," the DEP said in a release Friday.On a Code Orange air quality day, the DEP recommends young children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems limit outdoor activities. Residents and businesses are also strongly encouraged to help reduce ozone air pollution by driving less, limiting engine idling, refueling vehicles after dusk and conserving electricity by raising the thermostat and turning off lights that aren't in use.

Allegheny County Police investigating after Pittsburgh Police officer shot

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - An officer is in the hospital and so is a woman after a shooting in Mount Oliver. According to information provided by Pittsburgh Police, just before 5:30 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Brownsville Road for reports of a woman who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown at this time. Once they arrived, they found a man who fled on foot and then shot an officer in the vest. That officer was taken to the hospital. Police then arrested the suspect who had a gunshot in his shoulder, but it was unknown where he sustained that wound. He was identified as 21-year-old Julian Reese-Krasausky. Reese-Krasausky was in possession of a privately manufactured firearm. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition. An initial investigation has determined that no officers discharged their weapons. Allegheny County Police homicide detectives are investigating. Stay With For More Details
