Roy L. Biechy 1957 – 2022

Mr. Roy L. Biechy, age 64, a longtime resident of Thumb Road, St. Johnsville, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Albany Medical Center. Roy was born on December 1, 1957, in Bethlehem, PA son of the late Lester and Margaret (Frantz) Biechy. He was united in marriage with Marguerite Davis on Aug. 23, 1986, at St. Johns Reformed Church, St. Johnsville; a devoted union of 35 years. He was last employed with General Electric, Schenectady as a security guard.

Fireworks over Herkimer is back

HERKIMER — Fireworks over Herkimer is back for the first time in 11 years. The town of Herkimer, village of Herkimer, Herkimer College, Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce, along with many other members of the community have collaborated to bring back the fireworks show on Thursday, June 30, at Herkimer College, 100 Reservoir Road.

Abandoned 19th Century Farmhouse in Saratoga, Wanna See Inside?

During your next walk through Saratoga Spa State Park, keep an eye out for this historic structure. Check Out this 19th Century Abandoned Farm House in Saratoga. Located on the grounds of the vast Saratoga Spa State Park, it's known as the La Tour Farmhouse. Back in 2009 the Post Star did an expose on the home, which has sat vacant for decades. Apparently it has a very rich history. It was built circa 1835 as part of a large 135 acre farm, in the early 1900's it was converted into a two family home. As Saratoga State Park began to expand, the land and the house were purchased by the state in 1928. It was occupied by workers at the nearby nursery until about 1978.
