Just weeks after driving the Escalade-V, a 668-horsepower supercharged full-size SUV, it felt disorienting hopping into the all-electric 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. One is a no-limits final chapter for internal combustion, the other is the start of a new era for the Cadillac brand. The Lyriq arrives as Cadillac's first all-electric vehicle, a mid-size SUV that slots somewhere between the gas-powered XT5 and XT6 models without sharing anything in common with them (apart from the Cadillac badge). Available initially as a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model with 340 hp and a 312-mile range, the Lyriq will also be sold with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing 500 hp.

Thanks to the efforts of Dodge in creating the Hellcat engine and its various iterations over the years, the American market has been blessed with numerous high-horsepower cars, some of which were totally unexpected. Among them is the world's most powerful SUV in the Durango Hellcat, and it's a riot. Jeep has also used the engine in its Trackhawk, but with that car now dead, there's a vacancy at the top of the range. The brand still offers a Trailhawk variant that is geared towards off-roading, but thanks to a new trademark application discovered by CarBuzz, it may not be only offering with the word 'hawk' in its name. Filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), this new name points to something that could mean a new and very exciting Jeep.

This year's Goodwood Hill Climb event was full of fun surprises. An electric mini-car called the McMurtry Speirling broke the all-time record up the hill, taking just 39.08 seconds. That was enough to dethrone the previous record holder, the Volkswagen ID.R, by just a hundredth of a second. The new Cadillac Escalade-V is a massively impressive machine.
