2023 Cadillac Lyriq

Just weeks after driving the Escalade-V, a 668-horsepower supercharged full-size SUV, it felt disorienting hopping into the all-electric 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. One is a no-limits final chapter for internal combustion, the other is the start of a new era for the Cadillac brand. The Lyriq arrives as Cadillac's first all-electric vehicle, a mid-size SUV that slots somewhere between the gas-powered XT5 and XT6 models without sharing anything in common with them (apart from the Cadillac badge). Available initially as a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model with 340 hp and a 312-mile range, the Lyriq will also be sold with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing 500 hp.

New Jeep Tomahawk Ready To Fight The Cadillac Escalade-V

Thanks to the efforts of Dodge in creating the Hellcat engine and its various iterations over the years, the American market has been blessed with numerous high-horsepower cars, some of which were totally unexpected. Among them is the world's most powerful SUV in the Durango Hellcat, and it's a riot. Jeep has also used the engine in its Trackhawk, but with that car now dead, there's a vacancy at the top of the range. The brand still offers a Trailhawk variant that is geared towards off-roading, but thanks to a new trademark application discovered by CarBuzz, it may not be only offering with the word 'hawk' in its name. Filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), this new name points to something that could mean a new and very exciting Jeep.

Lucid Air CRUSHES The Goodwood Hill Climb

This year's Goodwood Hill Climb event was full of fun surprises. An electric mini-car called the McMurtry Speirling broke the all-time record up the hill, taking just 39.08 seconds. That was enough to dethrone the previous record holder, the Volkswagen ID.R, by just a hundredth of a second. Though there's no way it could outmatch the Speirling's insane fan-downforce system that helps it stick to the road, the 2022 Lucid Air had itself quite the weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Red Bull Announces $6.1 Million Hypercar With 1,100 HP

The Aston Martin Valkyrie was originally intended to be genius engineer Adrian Newey's wet dream, a track car with zero compromises and as many innovations as possible. This was supposed to be the finest track hypercar ever made. As impressive as it has turned out to be so far, the car is a little sanitized compared to what the Red Bull engineer originally wanted, with compromises continually being made. But now a second shot at creating the perfect racecar has been afforded to Newey, with Red Bull Advanced Technologies announcing today that it will be working with the man to create Red Bull's first hypercar project ever. Very few will be made, the price will be very high, and the arrival date is not far off.

Rumor: BMW Wants To Build The M5 Wagon

American car enthusiasts were forced to sit idly by as BMW revealed the first-ever M3 Touring wagon, which will not be sold in the US market despite a petition with over 50,000 signatures. BMW hasn't offered a wagon in the US since the 2019 3 Series, and this is far from the first time an M-branded long-roof model has been kept from us. Though the current and previous generation BMW M5 variants were only offered in the sedan body style, the E60-generation spawned an M5 Touring variant (the E61 wagon chassis) that was only sold in Europe.

Corvette-Powered Lincoln Futura Hot Rod Brims With Gotham Style

If you were born in this century, you have probably never heard of Lincoln's Futura concept from 1955. That said, you may recognize it as the basis of one of the most iconic Batmobiles ever made. Either way, it's the sort of car that you simply cannot buy, and that's a real pity. It harks back to a time when Lincoln was building some of the finest luxury cars America had to offer, and while plans are being made to recapture that fire in the future, there's a strong attraction to the ambitious and eclectic designs of the 1950s. So how does one satisfy the desire for a car that is unobtainable? By creating their own take on it, of course.

TEASED: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Is Going To Be Stunning

As the debut of the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 draws closer, Hyundai has started drumming up major hype for its newest electric car. We've seen a teaser already that was about the design language of the brand's swoopy new crossover, and now Hyundai is releasing a teaser a day to keep the speculators away.

Your Next Boxster May Not Be Built By Porsche

It's been a tough two years for the world's automakers. After being hammered by the Covid-19 pandemic, the resultant chip crisis and supply chain issues have wreaked havoc on the industry. Despite strong demand, companies are struggling to get vehicles out of factories quickly enough. And we're not just talking about the mainstream brands, either - even Porsche is struggling to meet demand.

WATCH: Genesis Electrified GV70 Acted As Butler At Goodwood

Genesis chose the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed to introduce the Electrified GV70, which is the brand's third all-electric model. It follows hot on the heels of the GV60 and the Electrified G80 luxury sedan. The Electrified GV70 is based on the brand's claimed state-of-the-art electrical architecture. According to Genesis,...

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA Gears Up For BMW X1 Fight

Mercedes is working hard at making electric mobility enticing and has recently shown remarkable improvements in the field by smashing its own range record with the EQXX. Similarly, it has been showing its engineering prowess with combustion engines by launching the incomparable AMG ONE and has more to reveal in the coming years as it aims to take the luxury sales crown from its bitter rival BMW. The people in Munich recently unveiled the 2023 X1, and now our spy photographers have captured Affalterbach's answer, snapping the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA with its facelifted front and rear ends. But as a nip-and-tuck rather than a total overhaul, will it be good enough?

Challenger Tomahawk Is A Sweet Name For Dodge's Next EV Muscle Car

Ever since the Dodge Viper bowed out of production in 2017, American car enthusiasts have begged for some sort of successor. Though it's unclear if the Viper name will ever be brought back from the dead, Dodge obviously still has plans to build performance cars, including an all-electric Challenger muscle car. According to a recent trademark filing uncovered by CarBuzz, the Challenger may not be Dodge's only performance flagship for much longer.

Wild Track Day Does Not End Well For Tesla Model S Plaid

We don't like criticizing other people's builds on this website unless it's some horrible replica that deserves to be hauled into space like Elon Musk's Roadster. Having said that, it's hard not to point out several flaws within the Chillin' with Chet YouTube channel's latest video. Chet took his stripped-out Model S Plaid to the track to test the car's new braking system. The standard brakes at the front were upgraded with front calipers, rotors, and pads from Unplugged Performance. The Plaid's rear brakes were kept standard.

$700k Seems To Have Been A Bargain For The Prodrive P25

Earlier this month, Prodrive unveiled the P25 rally-inspired Subaru WRX restomod. It took us about three seconds to decide whether we wanted one in our 10-car fantasy garage, and the answer was an unequivocal and resounding yes. But then we read about the $700,000 price (including taxes). Is it worth...

Honda Ridgeline Recall Is Bad News For Those Who Go Off The Beaten Path

Remember the older Honda Ridgeline? While the new one looks good and drives better, the old one divided opinions for its unibody construction and oddball styling. But it wasn't well-received among hardcore truck enthusiasts, as many said a unibody pickup wasn't a real truck. Well, those haters now have a little more ammunition in their bar arguments as a new recall affects 112,060 2006-2014 Ridgeline pickups registered in America's snowier states.

At Last! BMW M Boss Confirms M4 CSL Hommage

Way, way, way, back in 2015, BMW showed off the 3.0 CSL Hommage. Basically, it was a one-off concept car built as an homage to the original 3.0 CSL "Batmobile," one of BMW's most notable inline-six racers. Now BMW M, a brand in its 50th year, has resurrected it. M boss Franciscus van Meel has teased that BMW will be bringing the almost decade-old Hommage concept to life.

The Price Of One Porsche 963 Is As Much As A Dozen 911 Turbos

After months of rigorous track testing and thousands of development miles, Porsche finally lifted the lid on the incredible 963 racer. The official debut took place this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the Porsche Penske Motorsport-developed track weapon thrilling the crowd as it powered up the infamous hill climb.

RUMOR: BMW 3 Series Going Fully Electric Sooner Than Expected

If you're a fan of the BMW 3 Series, especially one with a six-cylinder engine, you might want to invest in one before 2027. According to a recent post on the BimmerPost forum, the all-new 2027 BMW 3 Series will be an EV-only model. The current turbocharged four- and six-pot engines will be dumped entirely in favor of electricity.

New Subaru Forester STI Sport Is All Show And No Go

Subaru diehards were given terrible news earlier this year when the company announced it would not build an STI variant of the current-generation WRX. This means are are no STI-branded models left in Subaru's US lineup, but it won't let the name completely die off in its home market of Japan. The 2022 Subaru Forester just received a new STI Sport trim level. As with performance trim levels from other manufacturers, the presence of the word "sport" insinuates this is not a fully-fledged, hardcore STI model.

Cadillac Celestiq EV Price Will Match Rolls-Royce And Bentley

The new Cadillac Escalade-V is a massively impressive machine. Under the large hood lives a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque, allowing the full-size SUV to hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. You'll certainly pay for the privilege of owning one - at $150,000, the Escalade-V will hold the title of the most expensive Caddy to ever grace American roads.

2023 Range Rover Sport First Ride: Ready For The Racetrack

The new Range Rover Sport is so capable on the road (something we'll learn for sure later this year) that Land Rover wanted our first taste of its newest car to be on the track. So, while at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, we were taken for a couple of hot laps around the Goodwood Circuit in the fastest RR Sport currently on offer - the P530.
