Multi-vehicle accident reported on I-80 WB near Exit 57 in Cass County

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Atlantic Fire & Rescue, Cass EMS and law enforcement responded to a reported multi-vehicle accident on I-80 westbound near Exit 57 (Olive Street), Tuesday (today). At least one vehicle had reportedly rolled over, and one person was complaining of a possible back injury. The crash was reported at around 4:23-p.m. Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane and backed-up for miles. Additional details are currently unavailable. Atlantic Rallies to Beat ACGC in Non-Conference Baseball Game

(Atlantic) Atlantic came from behind with a five-run sixth inning to defeat ACGC 7-4 in a non-conference baseball game at Atlantic on Wednesday night. ACGC, trailing 2-1, grabbed a 4-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Charlie Crawford and Miles Kading reached base on back-to-back walks, and Tegan Slabaugh drilled a single to load the bases. Brock Littler belted a two RBI single, and Lance Bunde’s single drove home the third run of the inning to put the visitors up by two runs.

(Treynor) Atlantic downed Treynor 16-3 in a non-conference softball game at Treynor on Wednesday night. “It was a big win for us in the sense that we took four days off, and you never know how the team will respond,” said Atlantic Head Coach Terry Hinzmann. “Are we going to be rusty and take a while to get back on the right track, or will we be rejuvenated after the layoff. We had a good practice on Tuesday leading up to this game, and it all worked out for us against a tough Treynor team that’s second in their conference and plays good competition throughout the year.”

Red Oak board approves 2022-23 insurance plan

(Red Oak) - Significant insurance increases continue to give Red Oak school officials some caution. During its regular meeting Monday evening, the Red Oak School Board approved a one-year insurance agreement for the 2022-23 school year with United Group Insurance, including a 16% increase -- or over $47,000 -- from the current year's total premium of roughly $342,500. The policy covers several areas ranging from worker's compensation to cyber insurance. Red Oak School Superintendent Ron Lorenz says nearly every item on the policy saw an increase.

A's use big third inning in win

(Clarinda) -- The Clarinda A’s (16-7-1) rode a four-run third inning to an 8-3 win over the Sedalia Bombers. Aidan Garrett had two hits, two RBI and scored once while Will Walsh and Conagher Sands also had two RBI apiece. Max Petersen and Bryce Phelps had two hits and an RBI each while Tab Tracy and Tyler Large each scored twice. Phelps and Kam Kelton each registered doubles in the win.

Several individuals arrested for burglary and theft in Cass County

(Cass Co.) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office conducted four search warrants in Atlantic from June 24th to June 26th after the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a residential burglary at a rural address in Cass County on June 22nd. Stolen items were located at all four of the addresses where warrants were served. The Atlantic Police Department assisted with the search warrants.

Creston man cited following a property damage accident

(Union County, Iowa) – A man from Creston was cited for Reckless Driving & Leaving the Scene of an accident, Monday night, in Arispe. According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, at around 10:30-p.m., a 2006 Chevy Impala driven by 18-year-old Rory Allen Davis, of Creston, pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 300 block of Forbes Street at a high rate of speed, and collided with a 2016 Chevy Cruze owned by Cody Robertson, of Creston, that was in the driveway. Authorities say Davis was upset for some reason.
