A Kewanee Police officer suffered several knife-cut wounds after he and another officer tried to disarm an armed man Sunday outside JoJos gas station in Kewanee. Austin Norberg, 33, of Annawan, Norberg appeared in Henry County Court on Monday on charges of Armed Violence with a Category II Weapon, Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.

Rock Island family seeking justice after car hits 6-year-old boy

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — What started out as a family bike ride quickly turned into a near-death experience for the youngest member of the Keel family, Jonas. According to Rock Island police, the boy was rushed to the hospital before he was transferred to another facility for his broken leg. DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Iowa Supreme Court affirmed Stanley Liggins’ life sentence without parole for the death of 9-year-old Jennifer Lewis in 1990. Among his arguments, Liggins argued his conviction should be tossed because of alleged juror misconduct, admission of a transcript testimony of a dead witness without a full opportunity for cross-examination and a violation of due process because his trial happened more than 30 years after Lewis’ was killed.

Court upholds Liggins’ sentence in 9-year-old’s 1990 death

The godmother of a little girl slain more than 30 years ago may finally have peace after the Iowa Supreme Court announced Thursday it upheld the conviction of her killer. The body of 9-year-old Jennifer Lewis, of Rock Island, was discovered burning in a field near Jefferson Elementary School, 1027 N. Marquette St., Davenport, in 1990. Jennifer had been sexually abused and strangled.
