NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The plan to close four VA clinics across the state is now off the table. Earlier this year, the Department of Veteran Affairs discussed closing VA clinics across the country, including clinics in Gallup, Raton, Espanola, and Las Vegas, New Mexico. Thanks to a bipartisan effort in Washington, those clinics will stay open.

Mike graduated from Raton High School in 1982 and New Mexico State University in 1984 with a degree in Ag Mechanics. ( November 22, 1945 – June 18, 2022 ) Marjorie “Marge” Ann (Silbaugh) Benjamin, 76, of French Tract, NM, passed away June 18, 2022, at home. Marge was born November 22, 1945, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Foster and Ethel (Hoskins) Silbaugh. She moved to Longmont, CO with her family in 1956. She married Darrell Benjamin on September 29, 1962. They lived and worked on the family farm in the Longmont area until moving to Angel Fire, NM in 1983. While living in Longmont she served as a Girl Scout leader and was involved in the 4-H Club. She was also a proud member of the Mile High Jeep Club. After moving to Angel Fire, she proudly served in the Angel Fire Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years as a firefighter and EMT; she was a well-respected member of the volunteer fire department and was a role model for women interested in fire services. Marge was well-known and involved in the community during her time in Angel Fire. Marge and Darrell finally settled in French Tract in 2013 where she spent the remainder of her time.

Emmanuel (Mike) P. Christos passed away at home on June 8th, 2022. Mike was the eldest son of Pete and Mary Christos (deceased). He is survived by his wife Jean Ann Scarafiotti Christos. Mike’s family includes a brother, Jack Christos, his wife Carolyn of Denver, Colorado, and a sister Georgia Zachos of Alabama. His family included two nephews, Alexander and Pete, and a niece Evan.
