Man files suit against DEA, Nampa police, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office alleging excessive force

GREENLEAF, Idaho — This article originally appeared in the Idaho Press. A man seeking compensation filed a civil suit on May 12 in the Idaho District Court against the Nampa Police Department, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, and Drug Enforcement Administration, alleging an unlawful detainment and excessive force toward a disabled person as well as unlawfully seizing $30,000 in cash.

Idaho boys found safe, alert canceled

MISSOULA, Mont. — Officials canceled an AMBER Alert issued Tuesday for two boys abducted in Canyon County. Nampa, Idaho, police say Cayson Casselman, 6, and Zaiden Casselman, 8, were found safe Tuesday night. A suspect was arrested without incident.

Spring Chinook season opened on the Snake River in Hells Canyon on Tuesday from the Dug Bar boat ramp to the boundary below Hells Canyon Dam. Snake River spring Chinook are currently migrating up the main stem Columbia River and arriving in the Oregon section of the Snake River. “While we aren’t expecting a lot of fish, there is a healthy public interest in this fishery and have decided to open so people can take advantage of that opportunity,” said Kyle Bratcher, Oregon Department if Fish & Wildlife District Fish Biologist in Enterprise. “We’re expecting anglers will catch mostly jacks with the occasional adult,” added Bratcher.

Canyon County incumbent commissioners, Smith and White, ousted

CALDWELL — Two incumbent Canyon County commissioners, Keri Smith and Pam White, have lost their bid for reelection in the May primary, unofficial election results show. Brad Holton, the current mayor of Greenleaf, defeated Smith and Connie Constantine in District 2.
