Van Buren County, Iowa — Two people were injured in a Tuesday afternoon crash in Van Buren County, Iowa. The crash happened just before 4 p.m. outside of Bonaparte. According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, a van driven Andrea Jo Buechel, 38, of Farmington, Iowa, was eastbound on 180th Street when it collided head-on with another van heading west.

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Iowa (KYOU) - Two drivers were sent to the hospital on Tuesday, June 8th following a head-on collision in Van Buren County. According to the Iowa State Patrol report, around 3:45 pm 38-year-old Andrew Jo Buechel of Farmington, Iowa was driving eastbound on 180th Street outside of Bonaparte, Iowa when her vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle going westbound.

A pair of motorists were injured in a two car accident in Van Buren County Tuesday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says at approximately 3:43 PM, a Chrysler Town & Country driven by 33-year-old Andrea Buechel of Farmington was traveling eastbound on 180th Street outside of Bonaparte. A Dodge Caravan driven by 61-year-old Nicholas Bowermaster of Keosaqua was traveling westbound on the same street.

Fairfield Woman Injured in Two Vehicle Wreck

Just after 5 p.m. Saturday a two vehicle wreck was reported by the Iowa State Patrol on Highway 63 near Eddyville in Wapello County. The collision occurred when a 2012 Chevy Sonic, driven by 33-year-old Christopher Kelley of Kearney, Nebraska entered Highway 63 traveling east from Eddyville Road and collided with a 2019 Dodge Caravan driven by 46-year-old Patrick McAvan of Fairfield. Kelley was transported to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics by Mercy One Life Flight, and 10-year-old Anna McAvan of Fairfield, a passenger in the Caravan, was transported to Ottumwa Regional Hospital by private vehicle. Also responding to the scene were the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, Wapello County Fire, Blakesburg Fire and Ottumwa Regional Medical Staff. The crash remains under investigation.

Argyle Man Hurt In Drunk Driving Crash

An Argyle man was injured early Thursday after a single-vehicle crash in Wayne Township. According to a Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office report, 22-year-old Tyler Corning crashed around 2:30am while driving on County Highway D. Officials say Corning failed to negotiate a curve, causing his vehicle to leave the road and enter the ditch. Deputies say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Corning received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital. He’s been cited for operating while intoxicated, failure to maintain control of his vehicle, speeding and failure to fasten his seatbelt.

Deer causes disabling damage

Katie Garmon of Floris ended up with $15,000 in damages to her Jeep Cherokee when she struck a deer as it ran in front of her vehicle at 7:04 p.m. on May 7. Garmon was traveling north on Highway 63 at the time of the accident. Deputy Jared Wittmaack investigated the accident.
