Can you identify this week’s mystery plant?

In 1947 Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel) published a work named “McElligot’s Pool”. If you didn’t read this as a child, you can as an adult, and I recommend it. The story involves a little boy fishing in a small pond, who begins to imagine the amazing fish which he might hook, if he just gives it a try. To me, this is a story about our fascination with discovery, whether in far-off distant places, or perhaps a bit closer to home. So, here’s a little example of discovery of the latter sort.

Pool business expands to Walterboro

Preserve Pools, a local residential and commercial pool maintenance and repair company, started a new business venture in Walterboro. The owners, Kristen and Michael Melo, started Preserve Pools four years ago. They’re a family-owned business located in Summerville. Kristen and Michael are national certified pool chemists, members of the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance ( PHTA), certified with the National Plasterers Council(NPC), BBB accredited, fully licensed and insured. Kristen has also been named 2021 Pleatco’s Perfect Pool Gal.

Pledge for safer communities

The Dorchester County Safety Departments convened at 11 a.m. on June 25 at the Dorchester County Fire Rescue Givhans Station 12 in Ridgeville for their second Building Safer Communities event. The informal gathering saw community members meet and greet local first responders. Law enforcement members cautioned civilians about the dangers of leaving firearms in unlocked vehicles, as several car break-in gun thefts have occurred in recent times. COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Four South Carolinians have pled guilty in connection to PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) loan fraud. Lori Hammond, 53 of Summerville, Catherine Needham, 36, of Manning, Jontrell Wright, 35, of Holly Hill, and Christopher Conrad, 39, of Holly Hill, have all pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and wire fraud.
