In Yates County Visit, Schumer Calls on USDA to Resume Collecting NY Grape Production Data

Decisions by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to stop collecting data on grape production vineyards in New York since 2011 puts the state’s grape and wine industries and local economy at risk. That’s according to Senator Charles Schumer, who made a stop in Yates County Monday. Schumer said who said without the data, scientists are flying blind, especially when it comes to invasive species like the Spotted Lantern Fly.
