Sustainable Wine Program Launching

The New York Wine and Grape Foundation is looking for a consultant to update its list of wineries using sustainable practices. Wine Industry Advisor reports the program is called Vine Balance. A pilot program is set to launch in Yates County next year, with the intent to expand it statewide. Growers who practice sustainability will be able to use the Vine Balance logo in their marketing materials.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY)-- A one-of-a-kind local restaurant serving up Caribbean cuisine has opened at 1208 Davis Street in Elmira. The owners tell me they weren’t going to let a pandemic stop them from opening this restaurant. They wanted to give people the experience of island cuisine, so plans began at the start of the year.

Sorge’s Restaurant celebrates 70 years

Sorge's Restaurant, the family-owned and operated Italian restaurant on Market Street in Corning, is celebrating its 70th anniversary in June. Renato Sorge came to the U.S. from Strangolagalli, Italy, in 1936. After working in area restaurants, he purchased 68 W. Market St. and opened his own restaurant on June 5, 1951, with his wife, Loretta.
