Warm Springs, Oregon – This update is for the S-503 Fire burning on the Warm Springs Reservation. Northwest Incident Management Team 8, a local type 2 team with Incident Commander Kevin Stock assumed management of the S-503 Fire this morning at 0600. The Incident Command Post (IC) is being set up at the Tygh Valley Rodeo Grounds.

EPA issues burn ban on Warm Springs Indian Reservation

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 10, in coordination with the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation, has issued a ban on all outdoor open burning on the reservation due to wildfire smoke. Burn Ban Instituted for Warm Springs

All outdoor burning on the Warm Springs Reservation has been banned because of the smoke tied to the wildfire burning in the area. The ban has been issued by the Environmental Protection Agency in coordination with the Confederated Tribes of the reservation. The burn ban applies to all outdoor and agricultural burning - which includes camping and recreation fires and bonfires - and it extends to all areas within the external reservation boundaries regardless of ownership or tribal membership. Ceremonial and traditional fires are the only ones that are exempt from the ban. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.

A fire first spotted Friday evening continues to burn Saturday in south Wasco County. The brush fire, referred to as S-503 Fire by CTWS Fire Management, is located west of Pine Grove, on the north end of the Warm Springs Reservation. The blaze is also approximately three miles east of Highway 26.

WARM SPRINGS, OR (KPTV) – Firefighters are battling a wildfire that has grown to 4,300 acres on Saturday evening on the north side of the Warm Springs Reservation. The S-503 Fire has prompted a level 3 "go now" evacuation for anyone living on or along Foreman’s Point in Pine Grove. It has also caused a level 2 "set" evacuation for Back Waters Road.
