Man arrested in fatal June 28 shooting on McClure Avenue in Peoria

PEORIA – Peoria police have arrested a man suspected of a June 28 shooting that left a 32-year-old man dead. Rev I. Blakes, 41, was identified as a suspect by police shortly after the incident and was arrested on Thursday for first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He is currently being held in the Peoria County Jail.

Man arrested for Tuesday’s deadly shooting

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The suspect in Tuesday’s shooting was located and arrested by Peoria Police after two days on the loose. The suspect, Rev I. Blakes, was located in the 2300 block of North Knoxville Avenue and arrested by members of Peoria Police Criminal Investigations Division and Special Investigations Division.

Man gets federal prison sentence for series of robberies, jail escape

PEORIA, Ill. – A Mechanicsburg man who robbed several businesses, ending with one in Elmwood, will go to federal prison for the better part of 12 years for his crimes. The U.S. Attorney’s office says a federal judge this week sentenced John Beck, 55, to 120 months in prison on each of four counts of Interference with Commerce by Robbery, with each sentence being served concurrently.

Peoria man sentenced for July 2021 gun store burglary

A Peoria man will spend more than five years in federal prison after burglarizing a Peoria gun store last year. 30-year-old Corey Brooks was sentenced this week to 63 months in prison for burglarizing Pinnacle Guns and Ammo in July 2021, and possessing weapons as a felon. Prosecutors say Brooks stole 18 handguns and two shotguns.
