Craig Bennett has been named the new Elgin city administrator. Bennett’s hiring was announced at the regular Elgin City Council meeting Monday, June 21. Bennett is currently the general manager at Valley Fresh grocery store in Elgin. “I’m looking forward to this new opportunity. It should be exciting,” Bennett said.

Iowa Woman Injured In Fillmore County Traffic Crash

Harmony, MN (KROC AM News) - An Iowa woman was injured in a two-vehicle traffic wreck in Fillmore County Monday. She was identified as 52-year-old Teresa Boughey of Dubuque. The State Patrol says she was a passenger in a car driven by 50-year-old Michael Garrett, also from Dubuque. He was not hurt. Boughey’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Multiple Injuries in 3-Vehicle Wreck in Howard County

Five people were injured in a three-vehicle wreck in north Iowa Friday evening. The Howard County Sheriff’s Office says the collisions occurred about 10 miles northeast of Elma shortly after 5:30 p.m. A car driven by 29-year-old Aureliano Santiz of Fort Dodge was westbound on A-46 and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 63. Santiz’s vehicle was then struck by a north-bound car driven by 69-year-old Linda Watson of Evansville, Indiana, which pushed Santiz’s car into the south-bound lane, where it was struck by a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Hilary Jeon of Ham Lake, Minnesota.

Fayette Co. Fairgrounds Hit by Vandals

Authorities are investigating vandalism at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in West Union. The Fayette County Fair Board says the incidents of vandalism occurred between 7 p.m. Sunday night and 3 p.m. Monday with damages including breaks in wooden fencing and busted up bathroom and shower facilities. In a Facebook statement, the Fair Board said, “For all the good things we report happening at the fairgrounds, we are sad that we have to report a negative situation and we need the public’s help solving. Vandalism is NOT tolerated at our fairgrounds. We are asking for the public’s assistance with any leads who may be responsible for this act of mischief.”

Police Looking for Fairground Vandals in West Union

The Fayette County Sheriff is asking for the public's help in the investigation of vandalism done to the Fayette County Fairgrounds in West Union. The criminal mischief happened sometime between 7pm Sunday and 3pm Monday. The unidentified vandals did extensive damage to the fairground's restrooms and shower stalls. A dollar figure was not put on the damage.

The title of cheapest station in the New Hampton area went to Kwik Star at 825 W Milwaukee St, according to a Tuesday survey by GasBuddy. Diesel was listed there at just $2.99 per gallon. HOWARD COUNTY, Iowa – Two people were seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision Friday in Howard County. The Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 5:30 pm at the intersection of Highway 63 and A46.
