Cal Fire Officers arrest man accused of starting the Ridge Incident Fire

MOUNT SHASTA CITY, Calif.-- A man accused of starting this past weekend's Ridge Incident Fire, just west of Mt. Shasta City, is now in jail. According to Cal Fire, some of the law enforcement officers made that arrest on June 30. The man has been booked at the Siskiyou County Jail and is facing six counts of arson to forestlands along with several other charges.

Erminia Zandona'

After a long illness, Erminia Zandona', age 97, passed peacefully on June 28th 2022 at Shasta View Estates in Weed, California. She was born on July 11, 1924 in Sunrise, WY to parents John and Regina Cenedese. She was preceded in death by her husband, Silvio, son, Raymond, father, John Cenedese, mother, Regina Cenedese and brother, Dominic Cenedese.

Longtime Mount Shasta resident, Veronica Ann Nurmi, passed away on June 24, 2022 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. Veronica was born on June 19, 1952 in Bakersfield, California to James and Nellie Murphy. Veronica married Jim Nurmi in 1976. Jim and Veronica moved to Mt. Shasta in 1989.
