Video shows herd of cows running loose in California neighborhood

Video showed dozens of cows running loose in a California neighborhood on Tuesday after escaping from a meatpacking facility. Shortly after 7:30 p.m. PT, authorities responded to a report about the herd galloping down the streets of Pico Rivera, about 11 miles southeast of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Nearby residents were asked to avoid the area as officials tried to gather the 40 cows that took off from the slaughterhouse when a gate was accidentally left open.

‘Steer clear’: Cows invade city streets after escaping from California meatpacking plant

PICO RIVERA, Calif. — At least 20 cows were on the moo-ve in a Southern California city after they escaped from a Pico Rivera slaughterhouse Tuesday night, authorities said. According to KTLA and KCBS, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded about 7:30 p.m. PDT to an area near Beverly Boulevard, where a herd of cows was roaming the streets. A KTLA helicopter later spotted several of the cows in a cul-de-sac on nearby Friendship Avenue as several sheriff’s cruisers blocked the street.
