Jeannette 'Jean' Bell Galloway

Jeannette “Jean” Bell Galloway, 101, of Dawson Springs, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Tradewater Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dawson Springs. Ms. Galloway was born July 7, 1919, in Caldwell County to the late Ellis Creekmur and Donna Rogers Creekmur. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

The investigation into the murder of 16-year-old Dakota Carter, who died after a shooting at his parents’ home in Dawson Springs on June 1, seems to be at a standstill. Republicans Pass Democrats In Latest Trigg Voter Registration Stats

The Secretary of State’s office reports Republicans outnumber Democrats in Trigg County, with Democrats still holding Christian, Caldwell, Todd, and Lyon Counties. According to the May 2021 voter registration statistics, there were 6,199 registered Republicans in Trigg County in May, with 5,524 Democrats, 463 Independents, and 450 registered as other. There are 12,743 registered voters in Trigg County, with 6,610 women and 6,116 men.

Kentucky Corrections Seeking to Fill 100 Jobs in Caldwell, Lyon Counties

Last Thursday’s “ComeBack Job Fair” at the James Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville brought light to more than 2,000 job opportunities in the west Kentucky area. Of those careers, 100 —or nearly 5 percent —were options within the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville and the Western Kentucky Corrections Complex in Fredonia, two locations near to Princeton and Caldwell County.

• June 17, at 2:07 p.m., officers arrested Michael T. Newton, 50, of Princeton, on a Caldwell County bench warrant charging him with failure to appear. • June 17, at 2:58 p.m., officers responded to a residence near the 200 block of Citizens Court for an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. Officers made contact with Rueben Martinez, 60, of Princeton, and determined he was under the influence of intoxicants. Officers also found that Martinez was trespassed from the address. He was taken into custody and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and second-degree criminal trespassing.

Allie Felker Named All-State Honorable Mention

Caldwell County senior Allie Felker has been named to the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association Class 1A Honorable Mention All-State Team. The Lady Tiger senior led the team with a .505 batting average with 21 of her 52 hits going for extra bases. She had four home runs and 44 RBIs while striking out just seven times in 111 plate appearances.

Blake Vivrette Named to All-State Team for High Jump

Caldwell County junior Blake Vivrette has been named Second-Team All-State in the high jump by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association. Vivrette finished third in the high jump at the Class 2A State Meet earlier this month with a height of six feet. The mark equaled his season-best and was two inches behind T.J. Miller’s school record of 6-2 set at the 2009 state meet.

A.J. Hollowell Named All-State Honorable Mention

Caldwell County sophomore A.J. Hollowell has been named to the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association Class 1A Honorable Mention All-State Team. The Lady Tiger sophomore hit an even .500 on the season with 24 RBIs. 12 of her 49 hits were for extra bases including one homer. She also was tied for the team lead in walks.

David Crenshaw

David Crenshaw, 82, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Baptist Health Paducah. He was born on February 3, 1939, in Caldwell County near Tayloe Bend to his late parents, George Clifton and Nellie Frances Tayloe Crenshaw. David was a graduate of Butler High School in the Class of 1956. After which, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps for eight years and served on the USS Saratoga and as a guard at the United States Embassy in both the Philippines and Vietnam. He devoted his life to Caldwell County emergency services and started with the Caldwell County Ambulance Service when it started in July of 1976 as an EMT. He later served as the Emergency Manager of Caldwell County, the Director of EMS for Caldwell County. David also served on the local Emergency Planning Committee and over 25 years on the Caldwell County Rescue Squad. David, alongside his wife, Linda, taught EMT classes for over 32 years from 1979-2018. He also taught various Red Cross classes and served as their Director for Caldwell County. He was an avid Ducks Unlimited supporter, founding the Caldwell County chapter and serving as chairman. In addition to his involvement with Caldwell County’s emergency services, David was the Personnel and Purchasing Manager at Princeton Hosiery Mill and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Hopkins County.

PRINCETON — A utility-scale solar farm in Caldwell County is being proposed by National Grid Renewables, a renewable energy development company based in Minnesota. The Caldwell Solar LLC project was initiated in July 2020 when the Kentucky Public Service Commission received a Notice of Intent to File an Application for a Certificate of Construction. The company hosted a public information open house at the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princeton Thursday.

The Lyon/Caldwell Early Head Start has announced guidelines for the 2021-22 enrollment. Full day/full year classroom is from 7 a.m — 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with a small fee for the class. Full year classroom from 8 a.m. — 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, no fee. Diapers, pull-ups, wipes, formula and meals are provided. The program is open to children from ages 6 weeks through 3 years.
