Juvenile transported by Air-Evac after accident in Sikeston

The Standard Democrat reports that a juvenile sustained injuries in an accident at the Sikeston Recreation Complex Wednesday evening. Around 8:40 p.m., officers were called to the complex in reference to a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. Initial reports were a male was hit by a white vehicle that left the scene. However, upon arrival, it was learned that a male juvenile was not hit by the car but had been sitting on the truck with a friend when the car left and the boys were thrown from the vehicle. One boy was transported by Air-Evac to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and his condition was unknown at press time, while the other boy was checked by EMS and released to his parents. The driver of the vehicle, a female juvenile who returned to the scene, stated she did not know the two boys were on the trunk of her car when she left and did not feel or see anything when leaving.

Suspect in custody after shooting

The Southeast Missourian reports that one person was taken into custody after a shooting Thursday morning. Sikeston Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Tyler Rowe said that at 9:10 a.m. officers received a report of a subject from one vehicle firing a shot at another vehicle around S. West and Malone. The victim drove to headquarters to speak to officers and while there, the suspect vehicle was located circling the building. The car was immediately located by officers and a short pursuit occurred before patrol units were able to stop the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and no one was injured during the incident. The original scene of the shooting was found to be at Sunset and Magnolia. The case is still under investigation, and no names are being released at this time.
