13-year-old homicide victim found in Pueblo West home identified

PUEBLO, Colo. (KROD) -- The Pueblo County Coroner released the name of the victim found unresponsive in a Pueblo West Home. On June 27, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) responded to a call of an unresponsive female. When deputies arrived at a house in a house in the 600 block of E. Clarion Dr. at 10:45 a.m., they found the victim dead.

Charges formally filed against Cañon City man for possession of firearm while on probation

Charges have formally been filed against the man arrested for possession of a firearm while he was on probation for charges related to a previous attempted-homicide case. Cody Alan Butcher, 23, appeared in district court for the filing of charges Wednesday. He faces charges of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, a Class 5 felony; unlawfully carrying concealed weapon/knife, a Class 1 misdemeanor; violation of a protection order, a Class 1 misdemeanor; harassment, a Class 1 misdemeanor; and domestic violence.

Fremont County Coroner IDs man fatally stabbed; court records detail suspect’s previous alleged violence

Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller released the identity of the man who fatally was stabbed early Friday morning. Andrew Goodwin, 21, of Cañon City was stabbed in the chest just before 2 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Greenwood Avenue. He was transported to St. Thomas More Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. An autopsy is set for Tuesday, Keller said.

Canonland Walkers and Hikers celebrates 19th anniversary

Canonland Walkers & Hikers completed a four-mile jaunt on Tunnel Drive this past Saturday to commemorate the club’s first hike, which occurred on June 25, 2003. The Cañon City-based hiking club has become a recreational and wellness mainstay in Fremont County. Thousand-Miles-Hiked member Sharon Whitney said, “We are proud to offer outdoor adventure, healthy exercise, and of course the wonderful fellowship of the trail.” CW&H holds walks and hikes weekly and is open to the public.
