Byron Police investigators say the suspect is described as a black female with a puppy paw print tattoo on her leg. Culloden man gets 20 years prison for identity thefts

A Culloden man who stole the identity and credit of nearly 400 victims around Monroe County and beyond was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday, June 2. Leonard Tyler Curry, 27, of 510 Fuller Road, Culloden was sentenced by Judge Tommy Wilson after pleading guilty to identity fraud, theft, forgery, and RICO violations. Curry was arrested in January 2020 after Monroe and Bibb deputies raided his home. Sheriff Brad Freeman said Curry was stealing mail from mail boxes, many times mailings for pre-approved credit cards, and using them to secure credit in his victim’s names. Freeman said that Curry would contact the credit card company and change the address of the pre-approved credit card to get access to the credit.

The Byron Police Department is looking for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run on Monday that sent a man to the hospital with minor injuries. At 8:30 p.m. Monday, a black Nissan Altima hit a 65-year-old man when the car drove up onto the sidewalk on Carrington Lane in the Carrington subdivision, according to a BPD Facebook post.
