Superior transitions to 8-Man with new QB ahead of Week 0 matchup

SUPERIOR, Neb. — With a Week 0 matchup against Alma looming, Superior has been focused on learning the ins and outs of 8-Man football. "It was really slow just understanding the different things you have to do in 8-Man and understanding that the field is so much smaller," said senior Jacob Meyer. "After our first warmup game we played against Palmer, it really picked up and we just started to get the hang of it more and more as we went on."

Lee Campbell Williams, 74, Jewell, Kan., resident, died July 21, 2022. He was born Nov. 4, 1947, in the Borough of Buffalo, town of Flushing, New York. Lee grew up in Park Ridge, N.J., and was in the Air Force for four years in Viet Nam and Spain. He married Maria, his first wife, in Spain. They had one son and later divorced. He then married Jacque Wheeler.

John Edmund Bock was born on January 25, 1925, near Lebanon, KS, to Christine Ferguson Bock and Elmer Bock. He died on July 30, 2022, at The Piper Assisted Living, Kansas City, KS. He lived on his family farm in Smith County until they moved to a farm near Zeandale, KS. He graduated from St. George High School in 1943. In WWII, John served in the South Pacific (Philippines), 6th Infantry Division, Company D, 20th Infantry. He served in Leyte, Manilla and later as part of the occupying force in South Korea as First Sergeant with the 81mm mortar platoon.
