A controversial downtown Oconomowoc development project has taken a step toward final approval

CITY OF OCONOMOWOC - The controversial Rockwell development project took another step toward approval at the city's June 21 common council meeting. The council voted 6-1 in favor of approving the redevelopment plan submitted by Rockwell Partners, LLC, and MSI DesignBuild. The lone no vote came from Ald. Charles Schellpeper. Ald. Chris Douglas did not attend the meeting.

6-25-22 missing fdl woman found safe

A Fond du Lac woman who was the subject of a Silver Alert has been found safe. Sixty one year old Mary Mann was reported missing Friday morning near the area of 6th Street and South Park Avenue. The Fond du Lac Police Department reported shortly before 5pm Friday that she was found safe.

FOND DU LAC (WLUK) -- A Silver Alert has been issued for a 61-year-old woman who may be in the downtown Fond du Lac area. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says Mary M. Mann was last seen around 9 a.m. walking from a home near 6th Street and S. Park Avenue.

6-25-22 father sippel to celebrate 75th ordination anniversary, and his 100th birthday

On Saturday, June 25 at Holy Family Church, Father Edward Sippel will celebrate. two milestones that few reach—his 75th anniversary of his ordination into the priesthood, and his 100th birthday. The Fond du Lac native was born in July 1922 to Louis and Della Sippel, who raised him in a “Christ-centered” life, leading through example with their volunteer work such as at St. Vincent de Paul. He attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary for high school, and during his time there, decided to enter the priesthood. Following study at Milwaukee’s St. Francis de Sales Seminary, he was ordained on June 7, 1947. Before arriving at St. Patrick Parish in Fond du Lac—later part of Holy Family Catholic Community—in 1971, Fr. Sippel served in West Allis, Racine, Milwaukee, and Waukesha, as well as taught high school religion at various schools in Milwaukee and Waukesha. For 20 years, he served at St. Patrick’s, becoming a much-beloved figure at the church and throughout the Fond du Lac community. Many remember him for playing a prominent role in major milestones of their lives—weddings, baptisms, funerals, First Communions, and Confirmations. Even after his retirement in 1991, Fr. Sippel continued to guide people in their faith by offering Mass when called upon and acting as chaplain at the Congregation of Sisters.

A longtime Fond du Lac broadcaster has been inducted into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Fond du Lac radio station owner Chris Bernier was one of four broadcasters added to the WBA Hall of Fame during the induction event this week. Bernier is the president and CEO of Armada Media with radio stations in Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan and Wisconsin. Bernier describes himself as a small-market guy. He started his radio career at age 19 as an on-air host at a radio station in Idaho and by age 21 was a station manager, and part owner by age 22. Over the years he has worked every job in radio including sports play-by-play, news, engineering, tower climbing, sales, marketing, management and now ownership.

SILVER ALERT CANCELED: Citizen tip leads to missing woman

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY) - A Silver Alert in Fond du Lac County was canceled after a missing woman was found safe. Fond du Lac Police tell Action 2 News a person who saw the Silver Alert noticed the woman and called the police department. An officer responded to check on her welfare.
