Vickie was born in 1920 in Zambales, the Philippines, to Pascual and Satera Farrales. As a young girl and woman, she worked on the family farm and as a seamstress in her rural town. During the Japanese invasion in World War II, she and her family persevered through deprivation, bombings and the loss of her brother, Hipolito, who served in the army and died during the Bataan Death March. Despite lacking formal education, Vickie was drawn into service at a local American military hospital and quickly earned recognition for her work caring for injured and dying servicemen.

Dave is survived by Porter Knight, his loving wife of 26 years, who was by his side as he lived with ALS in the last years of his life. Betty was born and raised in Albany, NY. She met her husband while working as a Nursing Instructor at Albany Medical Center. Marty, daughter of Rowland and Edith Illick, was born on Aug. 31, 1950, in Middlebury, Vt. Rowland’s work as a geography professor led to frequent travel for the family, including two years living in Beirut, Lebanon. Marty graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1968 and from Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., in 1972 with a degree in Cultural Anthropology. She spent her winter term of senior year in Togo, West Africa, studying the village market system for her thesis.
HANCOCK — Judith Ann Poquette (D’Avignon), wife, stepmom, sister and friend, age 53, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021, at her home in Hancock, Vt. Judy was born on Dec. 24, 1967, in Bristol, Vt., to Theodore and Helen (Jimmo) D’Avignon and was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Mt. Abraham Union High School in 1986. She loved working at the Middlebury Gulf. She worked there for eight years and was later promoted to manager. She loved her animals. She met the love of her life, Ellwyn “Boomer” Poquette Jr., in 1998. They married on May 5, 2018.
