Burlington Police arrest one after gunshots on North Avenue

Burlington Police arrested a man on charges of reckless endangerment and drug possession after gunshots on North Avenue late Saturday., according to a police report. At about 10:12 p.m., police received calls about a man discharging a firearm near a bus stop on North Avenue near Cambrian Rise. The caller gave a detailed description of the man and police found and detained him and another man on Crowley Street, the report stated.

Burlington shots-fired incident leads to arrest

A Burlington man is facing charges connected with a shots-fired incident in the city’s New North End. The Burlington Police say they’ve arrested Leon Delima, 34, at gunpoint for reckless endangerment and cocaine possession. Authorities note that the officers who took him into custody found cocaine on his person.

Lamoille County affordable housing units damaged by fire

MORRISVILLE, Vt. (WCAX) - Fire damaged an affordable housing building in Morrisville before Noon Sunday. The Morrisville, Hyde Park and Stowe fire departments responded and firefighters say there was heavy smoke and fire as they arrived. The smoke was coming from the corner of the first floor windows in the unoccupied structure on Hutchins Street. The Village Center building is still under construction and was unoccupied when the fire broke out. Firefighters say the cause is being investigated.

Burlington arrest 34-year old following Saturday night gunfire incident

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Burlington has recorded its 15th gunfire incident of the year. Police said just after 10 pm Saturday night, 911 callers reported gunfire in the vicinity of the North Avenue bus stop near Cambrian Rise. Officers received a description of the suspect and subsequently arrested 34-year old Leon Delima near the scene. No one was hurt by the gunfire, but Delima, say Police, has a lengthy rap sheet and is now facing multiple felony charges.

Burlington shooting sends one person to hospital

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Burlington police are investigating a late-night shooting that put one man in the hospital. Acting Chief of Police Jon Murad says the police department got the call around 1:30 a.m. on Friday from UVM medical center after a man came in with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Williston annual library book sale

WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Hundreds gathered Sunday at Williston Central school Sunday for the annual library book sale. The book sale is a fan favorite for many reasons, but mainly because of the way it has provided the community with extremely affordable book options for over 40 years. It also raises money for the Dorothy Alling Memorial Library. This was the first year that the sale was able to be back in the school gym since the pandemic, and library volunteers say it was great to see everyone come together for a good cause.
