Covington baseball a win away from title game; Munford baseball, Brighton softball eliminated
The Covington baseball team took a big step Wednesday afternoon toward advancing to its seventh state title game and winning its fourth state title. Covington broke open a close game with three runs in the top of the third and scored in all but one inning en route to a 9-2 win over Tullahoma at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro.

Sierra Group to expand in Blytheville, will add 40 jobs
Manufacturing jobs announcements in Mississippi County are becoming commonplace. Sierra Group Roofing and Solar announced Wednesday (May 25) it’s expanding into metal manufacturing specializing in standing seam, R-panel, gutters, and metal roofing accessories made with galvanized steel and galvalume. The expansion will include an investment of $1.6 million for a new 11,000 square foot headquarters in Blytheville and will create 40 full time jobs locally.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery Central baseball faced Covington High on Tuesday. The Indians came up short of a comeback in the first round of the state tournament. They lost by a score of 1-3. Aidan Karns took the mound for Montgomery Central, and the pitcher faced adversity to open up the first couple of innings. Sullivan East wins first state tournament game since 2003
SMYRNA — Sullivan East won its first game in the TSSAA state baseball tournament in 19 years with a 10-0 thrashing of Munford on Wednesday. The Patriots (25-10) set the tone early as starting pitcher Tyson Mitchell opened the game with three strikeouts and they scored four runs in the bottom of the inning in Wednesday’s early Class 3A baseball elimination game at Smyrna High School.
