Third suspect in Candler homicide makes first court appearance

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A third suspect, arrested and charged in the shoot death of a Candler man, made his first appearance in court Thursday morning. James Edward Benson, Jr., 18, of Asheville, was arrested Wednesday at around 5 p.m. and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 27-year-old Joshua Silvers.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office attempting to locate missing man from Candler

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate a missing man from the Candler area of Buncombe County. Matthew Wolff is age 40, a male, approximately 5’ 11” and 160 pounds with hazel eyes. He has brown hair and a beard. Mr. Wolff was last seen on 07/08/2021 around at the residence where he was residing at in Candler. Mr. Wolff previously resided in Watauga County and may be back in that area.

3rd person facing charges in deadly Buncombe Co. shooting

BUNCOMBE CO., NC (WSPA) – A third person is now facing charges in the shooting death of a man early Monday morning in Buncombe County. According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have charged 18-year-old James Edward Benson, Jr. of Asheville with first degree Murder in connection with the death of 27-year-old Joshua Silvers.

Two charged for trafficking meth in Asheville hotel room, deputies say

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) - Two people have been charged for trafficking methamphetamine in Buncombe County, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office. Deputies used a search warrant at a hotel room in Asheville where Holly Rose Suttle of Marshall and Spencer Jay Yates of Jonesborough, Tennessee were staying. Deputies said they found two pistols, one of which was reported stolen, two clear plastic baggies with suspected meth in it, 1,170 grams of water/methamphetamine solution and $9,455 dollars.
