Update on donations to WNY animal charities for the #BettyWhiteChallenge

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Animal lovers and Betty White fans came together across Western New York to honor the late star on what would have been her 100th birthday on Monday. The #BettyWhiteChallenge asked people to donate to their favorite animal charity in her honor. Many people stepped up to donate, and some charities and shelters in the area received over $10,000 in donations on Monday.

Local rescues to donate to in honor of #BettyWhiteChallenge

Jan. 17 is a very special day as we celebrate the legacy of Betty White who would have been 100 years old today! In honor of all she has done to help animals in her lifetime, the #BettyWhiteChallenge has been started to encourage everyone to donate to their favorite shelter or rescue, so we’ve compiled a list to help you out!

Hawk Creek Wildlife Center takes part in the #BettyWhiteChallenge

Betty White loved animals. On what would have been her 100th birthday, the #BettyWhiteChallenge is circulating, which asks that people donate to their favorite local rescue or animal shelter in her honor. I learned about the challenge when Hawk Creek Wildlife Center posted about the initiative, which seconds as another great way to remember Betty White and her esteemed legacy as an actress, a humanitarian, an animal lover, and an all around upstanding person.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS: Spending some quality time with a 'rat

I was driving along Route 77 through the Alabama Swamp when I spotted him on the edge of the ice in a little strip of open water. He was close to the road and the lighting was perfect, but by the time I turned around and headed back several other drivers had spotted him and stopped. Of course both individuals got out of their vehicles and walked over to where he had been, causing him to disappear under the ice. One fellow was a trapper so it seemed like a lost opportunity for me, a nature photographer.
