VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) selected Rich Schueneman as Civil Servant of the Year in the leadership category. On Wednesday, May 18th, USACE, St. Paul District commander Col. Karl Jansen presented the award to Schueneman. Jansen said Schueneman was nominated due to his outstanding service to the Corps of Engineers, their customers and his community.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Sergeant Tom Herzig reports the driver was traveling eastbound on I-94 when he “heard a loud bang” and noticed shredded tire in his rear-view mirror. (Tower City, ND) -- A semi driver hauling propane is ok after a tire on his vehicle caught fire on I-94. The tire fire broke out just before noon Wednesday as the semi was headed east on I-94 west of Tower City. The driver used an extinguisher, but was unable to keep the fire out.

ENDERLIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes’ baseball season came to a close after a 13-3 loss to Northern Cass on a chilly Friday afternoon in Enderlin. The Jaguars’ offense started things off with a bang in the form of a three-run home run by senior catcher Jack Metzger which set the tone for the afternoon. Oakes responded by tying the game up after the third inning with solo home runs from junior infielder Fletcher Willprecht and senior infielder Howie Neustel. However, that would be all the offense for the Tornadoes. Northern Cass scored ten unanswered runs to run-rule Oakes in the sixth inning to end their season.
