Major Road Work Starts Tuesday in Yakima

Yakima city crews are starting the annual chip sealing program was supposed to start on Monday but mechanical issues delayed the work. Tuesday work will start on Nob Hill Boulevard and Washington Avenue between 64th Avenue and 75th Avenue. A press release says the city will have flaggers on site to help drivers access their homes and businesses and also assist emergency vehicles through the work areas as needed.

The West Seattle Reds went undefeated (4-0) to bring home the championship by beating teams from Moses Lake, Wenatchee, and Ellensburg.

Yakima man to be arraigned on charges he assaulted his wife, utility worker amid standoff

A Yakima man charged with assaulting his wife and a utility worker earlier this month will be arraigned Wednesday. Yakima County prosecutors charged Eduardo Reyes-Serrano in Yakima County Superior Court with first- and second-degree assault, felony harassment, first-degree defrauding a public utility, obstructing police and failing to stop at a police officer’s request in connection with the June 14 incident at his South Fourth Avenue home.

Letter: Newhouse TV ads are comically misleading

To the editor — It would be humorous to watch the bipolar political positions of local conservatives if it wasn’t so glaringly hypocritical. Fourth District Rep. Dan Newhouse is flooding airwaves with political ads decrying the purchase of $2 billion of American farmland by China. The ad suggests President Biden is afraid to stand up to China as they take over America’s food supply, but Mr. Newhouse isn’t.

Five bands and four vocalists will compete in the fourth installment of Yakima AppleJam at State Fair Park on July 4. The Fourth of July celebration is scheduled from noon to 11 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2022, at State Fair Park, 1301 S. Fair Ave. The AppleJam contestants’ performances begin at 4 p.m. and winners will be awarded before the fireworks display at 10 p.m.
