Buena Vista County's Dutch Oven Cooking 101 classes are available this summer. Each program has a different theme, and May's is breakfast foods. The class will be taught on Friday, May 27th at 5:30pm at the South Shelter Area of the Buena Vista County Conservation Park. BV County Naturalist Katie Struss will present the basics of Dutch oven cooking including ovens, supplies, recipes, and more. A variety of Dutch oven breakfast foods will be served after the presentation.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A 43 year old California woman has had her probation revoked by a Buena Vista County judge. Keomanivanh Senesoury was out of jail on a five year probation. The Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office tells KICD News she was recently found guilty of breaking the condition of her release on multiple occasions.

The City of Storm Lake reminds residents to keep grass and weeds cut to a length of under eight inches, as is required by City Code. Any accumulation of dead weeds or grass on non-farm property, exposed to public view, is considered a nuisance under City Code. Exceptions are prairie, wetland, and other native vegetation areas identified by an enforcement officer.

Buena Vista County Auditor Sue Lloyd reminds voters that some polling places have changed due to recent redistricting across the state. Iowans whose polling place has changed should be on the lookout for a postcard in the mail informing them of the new location. BV County worked with Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate to send a postcard to every registered voter in the county starting today (Wed.)

A Storm Lake man was arrested on multiple charges following a standoff after he allegedly forcibly held a woman and a young child inside a residence. Storm Lake Police were called to the 600 block of West 6th Street around 2:30 this (Mon) morning. Officers interviewed a male victim, who told police that just prior to their arrival, he was approached by a male who pointed a gun at him. The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Matthew Ung.

STORM LAKE, Iowa — Storm Lake Police say a man is in custody after a standoff early Monday morning. That standoff began around 2:30 a.m. Monday after a man called police to report he'd been threatened with a gun by 31-year-old Matthew Ung, of Storm Lake, then returned to his home reportedly damaging the property and refusing to let a female inside leave with a young child.

Buena Vista University is hosting a technology conference next week. The event focuses on ways in which higher education will operate over the next decade. All solutions will have a technology basis. The theme of the event is “The Future of Technology in Higher Education,” and it will be held on Wednesday, May 25th and Thursday, May 26th.
