PAXTON — Paxton police arrested a Milford man early Wednesday after he allegedly solicited sex from a 15-year-old girl and traveled to Paxton to meet her. About 8 1/2 hours after they began their investigation into the matter, Paxton police arrested Andy E. Leppard, 42, of Milford, around 12:05 a.m. Wednesday as he was inside his parked car in the 500 block of West Franklin Street, Police Chief Coy Cornett said.

Million-dollar makeover of downtown Paxton’s streetscape almost done

PAXTON — The million-dollar makeover of downtown Paxton’s streetscape is nearly complete — several weeks ahead of schedule. “It’s good (to be almost done),” Mayor Bill Ingold said Monday. “I mean, I’ve been dealing with this (project) for six years, and I know there are a lot of people who thought it would never happen, so we are pleased to get it done. I hope it’s going to bring people to town to see what we’ve done.”

Paxton taking measures to rehabilitate distressed properties

PAXTON — As part of its effort to rehabilitate abandoned and distressed properties in town, the Paxton City Council recently adopted the International Property Maintenance Code, authorized the appointment of a code-enforcement officer and approved joining and donating $35,000 to the Central Illinois Land Bank Authority, which could help the city secure grants for tearing down dilapidated homes, for example, or assisting homeowners with their repair through so-called “homeowner-occupied rehabs.”

Sue Ellyn Foglesong, 69, of Watseka passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. Sue was born on August 27, 1952 in Watseka; the daughter of Earnest and Jody (Braden) Wallen and they preceded her in death. She married Louis Foglesong on February 16, 2004 in Las Vegas and he survives.
