MURRAY, KY - The fireworks display for Murray, KY on July 4 at 9:00 pm, is now postponed due to dry conditions. The Murray Fire Department and the City of Murray made this determination for the safety of our park, surrounding businesses and residential areas close to the Bee Creek Soccer Complex.

Nance Quest For 300th Official Bull Ride Continues To Be Elusive

Paris, Tenn.–Despite the sweltering heat, there was another big crowd for Saturday’s PBR Rodeo at the Henry County Fairgrounds. Hometown hero Cody Nance of Paris did not achieve his 300th official bull ride either Friday or Saturday night, but will continue his quest at other PBR events. Saturday was Family Day, with several activities held including a Celebrity Bull Riding event (on a mechanical bull). Both evenings were capped off with fireworks. (Bobby Melton photo).

Murray State University selected as host site for Governor’s Scholars Program

MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University has been selected as a host site for the Governor’s Scholars Program during the summers of 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors as part of an effort to enhance Kentucky’s next generation of civic and economic leaders. Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with full co-curricular and residential life experiences. Students must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge.

MCCH announces additional dates for Safe Sitter classes

Murray-Calloway County Hospital has announced additional dates for their summer Safe Sitter classes. The classes for kids ages 12 and up will be held from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on July 23 and July 30 at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, in the Dalton Conference Room, on the First Floor of the North Tower.

Murray Street To Be Closed For July 4 Parade

The City of Murray plans to close a section of KY 94//Main Street in Murray on Monday, July 4, 2022. This closure of KY 94/Main Street in Downtown Murray from U.S. 641/12th Street (Mile Point 9.769) to KY 2594/Industrial Drive (Mile Point 10.828) is to facilitate the Murray July 4th Freedom Fest Parade.

Murray, Ky.–The City of Murray and the Murray Fire Department have made the decision to POSTPONE The Murray Bank Fireworks Extravaganza due to dry weather conditions. Section of Main Street in Murray closing for Independence Day parade

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced a section of Main Street in Murray would be closed for the Freedom Fest parade from 8:15 a.m. to approximately noon on Monday. They said the closure will be from 12th St. to Industrial Drive and should occur between 8:15 a.m. and 12 p.m. Cross streets will also be closed at intersections along the route.
